Happy Friday! I hope the week has been productive for everybody and many of your to-do list items are done. It's always nice when out-of-town guests come for the weekend. We start to think about places to show them and activities to attend. It's a good idea to check your local community calendar for events especially any
freebies. You might just stumble upon an outdoor festival or concert. It's so hot and keeping yourself and guests cool will be a priority. Here are some cool summer favorites to have on hand during their visit:
--->
Watermelon: cut up chunks in a large bowl so your guests can easily grab them and put some in a small bowl.
--->
Pasta Salad: use any shape of pasta and add tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, and more of your veggie favorites. Season to taste and chill in the refrigerator.
--->
Grilling: the grill will get plenty of use this weekend with guests in the house. Plan to have enough charcoal or gas ready to grill meats, fish, corn on the cob, etc. Try grilling peaches which I discovered are quite yummy.
--->
Water: keep plenty of bottled waters chilled in the frig so your guests can grab one when heading out for an activity or just feeling thirsty. A pitcher of water is also good.
--->
Sweet Stuff: no visit is complete without a pound cake or something sweet on the kitchen counter or table. Plan to buy one from the grocery store and don't forget the ice cream for a cool topping.
I think the backyard will get lots of use when weekend guests are visiting. Have lots of fun and stay cool with a glass of lemonade close by.
