Great pics from this event last Saturday in Atlanta. I just adore the picture of Shaq holding the baby up to the rim. There's a NBA future down the road for the little kiddo!

All-Star Weekend

SmileyIt's a big weekend for the NBA with the 2012 All-Star Weekend in Orlando, FL. The events have kicked off and bet it's a bustling time in sunny Orlando. I need to call my brother who lives there to see if he's out and about. I remember when Atlanta hosted the weekend years ago. The event brings so many people to the city which is good for the local economy. We packed patience in the snarled traffic, it's worth it!
Here's a clip showing the Top 5 plays from yesterday's Rising Stars Challenge. The #1 play is High Flying!

Today is NBA basketball great Julius Erving's birthday or Dr. J as he was  nicknamed around the league and with fans. He played for the Philadelphia 76ers. In 1993, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Julius Erving received many awards and accolades in his basketball career. Dr. J was known for his leaping ability and dunks heading to the rim. He currently resides in the Atlanta area and is a successful businessman.

In celebration of Dr. J's birthday, here are 3 great quotes via BrainyQuote:
--->I firmly believe that respect is a lot more important, and a lot greater, than popularity.
--->I grabbed 19 rebounds in my first professional game, and somehow found a way to score 20 points. I felt real good about it. I felt that this was the beginning of something good.
--->The key to success is to keep growing in all areas of life - mental, emotional, spiritual, as well as physical.
