'60s Classic Hit

Sad news today on the death of Davy Jones, the front man for the '60s band the "Monkees" (he's in the orange shirt). He was 66. The Monkees had their own variety show with skits and music, it was a hit. The girls would go wild with screams during concerts and appearances. Daydream Believer, a classic indeed!

Leap to the Day

Smiley
The last day of February normally has 28 days, but this year there are 29 days which only comes around every four years. Let's Leap to the Day!
As Black History Month comes to an end today, the education and history that is brought to the forefront during the month of February does not have to end. Continue to discover and learn about African American inventors, educators, scientists, musicians, painters and actors who made an impact that we can admire for their accomplishments.

On February 29, 1940, Hattie McDaniel was the first African American to win an Academy Award for her role as 'Mammy" Scarlett O'Hara's nanny in the movie "Gone with the Wind." The Award was for "Best Supporting Actress." At the ceremony, Ms. McDaniel and her escort were seated at a segregated table away from her Gone with the Wind cast members.

Tech Tuesday

SLEEK ->Panasonic introduces waterproof smartphones via USAToday
Check out the new Eluga phone that is waterproof, it's so sleek. A few of my friends and mom have dropped their cell phones in water:-) This waterproof phone might just be the ticket.

Quote of the Day

Happy Tuesday and the Daytona 500 race finally finished last night. There was a two-hour delay after a fiery crash left fuel on the tracks. In the spirit of racing, the quote of the day is by former race car driver Mario Andretti who had a successful career in racing. It's also his birthday today!

Music Monday

A newbie for Music Monday. One of my Twitter followers shared this new song today, Love N' Life. Two thumbs up and Erikka J has a hit on her hands. Hey, leave a message in the comments and let me know what you think of the song. Thanks!

Oscars Recap

Now you know I could not let the day get by without an Oscars recap. The ABC Red Carpet Live show with host and Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts was good. I learned this morning that Robin's gown was designed by Marc Bouwer. His designs 'M by Marc Bouwer' can be found on QVC.

All the ladies looked wonderful and a few favorites stood out like Emma Stone and Michelle Williams who wore red. Viola Davis looked fantastic in a green Vera Wang gown. Viola has been rocking a natural hairdo instead of the wigs she is known for wearing. The winner for the Best Supporting Actress Octavia Spencer had me in tears during her acceptance speech and her gown was beautiful.

The men all looked dapper in their tuxedos. I read a tweet from GQ magazine complimenting the guys on the red carpet. It seems the guys might have it easy when selecting what to wear to award shows. But they too need to have a good fit and proper neck wear to pull the whole look together.

OK, Jennifer Lopez never disappoints and her dress last night was revealing with the plunging neckline. Also,  Angelina Jolie's slit in her dress showing lots of leg generated buzz. I couldn't take my eyes off the bright red lipstick Angelina wore on her lips. That's a color I never could pull off. Let me add that her arms were super skinny and I think she really needs to add a bit more weight to her frame.

The black and white silent movie "The Artist" came out a winner with five Oscars. Jean Dujardin, the French actor who won Best Actor for the movie has the sexiest French accent. That's a wrap!

Leap Year Savings

Food Clipart Images
Hello Monday! While the coffee is brewing, start the morning off with stretches, shoulder rolls, and knee bends. A perfect way to get the body muscles circulating before sitting down to the laptop or desktop computer for a few hours.

For some reason, the whole Leap Year thing flew right over my head. I was looking ahead at the week and realized there are 29 days in February this year instead of 28. I have a friend who was born on the 29th of February so this year's birthday will truly fall on the actual date.

I'm always encouraging setting aside money each month into the savings account. Now you have one more day to determine how much goes into savings. If you brown bag lunch today and tomorrow, you just might be able to double the amount. Leap into saving this year!

Adam Levine's Pad

I just finished watching the Oscars, but started clicking around on a few sites before logging off the laptop. I came across this sneak peek of Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine's California pad in the March issue of Architectural Digest. Just a few pics worth a look-see especially the kitchen and baby grand piano.
