Closet Organizing for Summer

Dkny Shirt

The official kick off to summer begins on Wednesday, June 20 and we will be wearing more shorts, tanks and t-shirts. Organize your closet with like items stacked in sections on the closet shelves. What better way than to have our favorite capri pants, khaki or blue jean shorts, tanks and tees in sections. It's an easy and more  efficient way to grab and go when choosing your outfit. Also, your work attire can be organized in the same way with khaki slacks, short-sleeve tops, or golf shirts folded neatly and stacked for easy viewing. You will be out the door in no time flat!

Cardio Jam of the Day

Good morning, hope everyone had a nice holiday. How hard was it to get back in stride this morning? If you traveled out-of-town and returned home late on Sunday, getting organized awaits. Some may have had house guests over the long weekend. If school is out for the teens, give them some chores like taking the sheets off the beds and gathering towels in the bathrooms for laundering. Not to worry, pace yourself and the to-do list will dwindle down soon enough.

To help get us all back in stride again, hit play on this track by Metric called "Youth Without Youth" ~It's the Cardio Jam of the Day and has some real kick to it. Have a good day!

A Shredder is a Must-Have

While talking with a friend last week, she mentioned an organizing project that she finally got the chance to start working on. It was old paperwork that needed to be tossed out. When we talked a few days later, she said "Oh, I'm making progress and now I'm tearing up the sheets of paper." I thought, by hand? I figured she had a shredder, but didn't. I volunteered to bring my shredder over to save time and make sure the information could not be pieced back together. If there is one thing to add in the home office, it's a shredder. There are many on the market, but the one that shreds papers into tiny pieces are best.

Protect yourself from identity theft when organizing paperwork and getting rid of old documents no longer needed. Always shred those junk mail credit offers that usually come with an application. Don't let those fall into the wrong hands, shred them to pieces.

Motivation Tip of the Day

Good morning, we all can use a little motivation especially on Monday. Are you starting a new at-home work project or an assignment from the boss at the office this week? Take a few minutes to get organized by jotting down the resources you will need, websites to visit, and outline of ideas. Diving right in without a plan can lead to wasted time and frustration. Stay motivated!

5 Easy Closet Organizing Tips

Of course, the closets in the house are always tops on the list for organizing. The garage comes in a close second. We tend to put off tackling an organizing project which can be daunting at times. Here are 5 easy closet organizing tips that won't take too long and will help to get you out the door for work, school or errands:

--->Fold and stack jeans by color on the shelves in the closet
--->Place your favorite belts together on a hanger for easy pick
--->Designate a shelf for tees, tanks & short-sleeved tops
--->Keep chunky bangles, hair clips and hankie scarves in small plastic bins with label of the contents
--->Organize shoes by color on the shoe racks to grab & go

These tips are pretty simple don't you think, I hope so. An uncluttered life is much more enjoyable and less overwhelming.

Organizing Tip of the Day

Hello and welcome to the beginning of a new week. Many of us have at least one or two email addresses like Yahoo & Gmail. Just as file folders are a good way to organize paperwork, using folders within email is also a way to organize messages. Simply name the folder something that represents the emails to go in them. For example, Job Search, Client's Project, or Tax Time for emails with your accountant.

Simply Short & Sweet

TGIF, what's been happening with you today? For me, it's been a day for catching up on a few back burner items like mail including the junk ones too. I spent time organizing my email inbox and reading some over again that got a quick scan earlier in the week.

EmoticonThe weather was pretty good with humidity up, but the pesky pollen down after some overnight rain. Have I told you how wonderful my day is knowing you stop by and read my posts? Oh, I did. Never can say 'thank you' enough, right. Simply short & sweet!

3 Clutter-Free Ideas

We are all looking for ways to get rid of clutter or at least organize things better. Here are 3 simple clutter-free ideas that are also frugal too.

1. Use plastic baskets to store cleaning supplies under-the-sink in the kitchen & bathroom. Keep the spray bottles and dusting polish in one place for easy access. The baskets are handy in the bathrooms for the products we use everyday and help keep the counter from looking cluttered.

2. In the closet, use the baskets for storing scarves, socks, hair clips, etc. that you can quickly pick through when dressing for work or errands. These baskets have no lids which makes it easier to see the contents.

3. The garage shelves will look more organized when using these baskets. They stack well on top of each other so you can glance for the screwdrivers, electric tape or paint brushes when working on the car or do-it-yourself project.

Head over to the local dollar store and spend a few bucks on these inexpensive baskets that are so handy around the house. Buy several in different colors to make the clutter-free look more dazzling.

New Month Marches In

It's the 1st of March and a new month begins. I don't know about you, but starting a new month is refreshing. Take time to regroup and focus. How are those New Year Resolutions coming along? Stick with them and forge ahead with positive energy!

As you organize projects and activities for March, keep the calendar up-to-date on what's coming up. Get the family involved with a sit-down to find out what school activities, sporting games, or music recitals they have going on. This is a neat way to help the kids stay organized in their own life. It's not too early to start making Spring Break plans so note that on the calendar.

Now this post would not be complete without a budget tip, right. Review the checkbook on last month's expenses as the new bills get ready to be mailed out or paid online. The transportation expense was a biggie  given the gas prices. Do the best you can and just the effort towards savings deserves a pat on the back. Here's to a new month and frugal you!
