Remembering Marvin Gaye

Motown legend Marvin Gaye met an untimely death on April 1, 1984 after being shot and killed by his father. He was 44 years old. The singer died the day before his birthday which is April 2. A true tragedy for the family and fans.

Marvin Gaye had many smash hits including favorite "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." Plus, What's Going On, Let's Get It On, and Aint that Peculiar. The singer performed duet singles with Mary Wells and Tammi Terrell.

The singer battled depression and a troubled marriage that took a toll on his music career and finances. Marvin Gaye made a comeback in 1982 with his Grammy-Award winning hit "Sexual Healing" and started touring again, but the long absence showed.

Marvin Gaye was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Music Hall of Fame in 1987.
