A Natural Woman

Happy TGIF and there is sunshine galore in Atlanta with enough to go around, I love to share. As we wrap up another week, I hope it's been one with many accomplishments for everyone. I continue to pursue freelance writing and editing gigs on various job posting sites, but no hits yet. I haven't mentioned this on my blog, but I decided several months ago to go 'natural' with my hair. By this I mean that no perming chemicals are used on my hair for straightening. My scalp feels so much better and relieved from the burn that came with using these products. Now my hair stylist, who is a student at the local technical college's Cosmetology School, simply shampoos & conditions my hair. She uses the flat iron for a soft press to style my hair which is like back in the day when the straightening comb was used on African-American hair. I'm not tooting my own horn, but several ladies have stopped me to say how much they like my hair. I took a moment to tell them it's all natural and one lady said she doesn't use the hair straightening chemicals on her hair either. I'm not knocking the hair products used for perming, but I just decided not use them anymore. I must give kudos to the Cosmetology School for using such good hair care products. Borrowing a line from one of Aretha Franklin's hit songs, I feel like a natural woman.

  1. And oh such a beautiful natural woman! I totally agree, your hair is awesome! I too love the natural look. Please send me an email and let me know her products. I'd love trying them. Have a great weekend Pretty Lady! Hugs!

  2. Thanks for your lovely comments Loretta. The hair products are part of the Cosmetology School so the student-stylist uses them and not her own. Hope your weekend is well :-)
