Drought causing grocery prices to rise

I read a story on CNN yesterday that the drought is damaging farmers crops and making it hard to plant anything given the dry conditions. You can read the story here.  Of course, that same story talked about the rise in food prices that shoppers will see given the low yield on veggies and fruits making their way to the grocery stores.

Corn

The grocery items that are corn based will definitely see a rise in prices.  Keep your eye out for the buy-one-get-one-free deals which can amount to savings. We all know the price of peanut butter has not gone down, but up. This is one item that stays stocked in our pantries so any deals you find on this staple is worth stocking up.

We have seen the grocery prices rise for some time now, but the story on the drought will probably hit our wallets even more. Start saving so you can still buy the favorites you and the family have come to enjoy.

Monday Motivation

Hello everybody, hope the weekend was wonderful. If any of us needed Monday Motivation, this just might be the day. It's National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day! I just went to the grocery store to buy a new jar of peanut butter so this day is right on time.

Take one for lunch and enjoy outside in the sunshine this week. Get away for an hour from the desk and join co-workers for chat unrelated to work, of course. It's spring break for schools in Georgia this week so having enough peanut butter and jelly will come in handy for a quick sandwich that the kids can make themselves.

Here's an idea ->Before pressing the two breads together, add a topping like slices of banana, sprinkles of raisins, piece of cheese or turkey. The PB&J is a classic favorite enjoyed anytime of the day!

High-Priced Fave

I was just at the grocery store yesterday and peanut butter was on my list. This story is right on time and I could not believe the jump in prices. I generally buy the store brand and even those prices were surprisingly high. I always look for buy-one-get-one-free on peanut butter in the grocery ads. I'm sure the rise in the prices is hitting families hard where peanut butter is a mainstay staple. The PB&J is becoming a high-priced fave, but I gotta have it!
