Cold Weather Tips

The temperatures have gotten colder in many parts of the country and the central heat has been turned on. Now you know I like to keep my thermostat on 68 degrees, but some may like it higher in their homes. To save on the heating bill, keep these 3 tips in mind:

1. Wear extral layers of clothes like hoodies and sweaters for added warmth
2. Drink a cup of hot chocolate that is not only warming, but very tasty
3. Throw an extra blanket on top of the comforter at night

One more ->Make extras of soup, chili, or roast to freeze. They will come in handy on a frigid day and will surely warm you up.

Good Sunday Afternoon

I hope everyone is enjoying a nice weekend and a good Sunday afternoon. It was a rainy day yesterday, but today the sun is expected to come out. Of course, I'm waiting on it. I know one thing, the temps have dropped from all the springlike days and my heat is kicking back on, Oh Joy! I can't wait to keep the windows open and give the heating bill the boot :-) My post today wasn't going to be focused on any particular topic, just simply hello and wishes for plenty of that Sunday stuff I like so much and bet you do too ->Rest & Relaxation!

Frugal Tip of the Day

The cold winter temperatures may be doing a number on your heating bill like raising it. To try and keep the costs down, set the thermostat in your home at 68 degrees and keep it there all season long. One of my neighbors turned their heat completely off while away for a week during the holidays. When they arrived back home, the temperature in the house was 42 degrees. They said the heat ran for hours as it was trying to get back to the 68 degrees they normally set the thermostat during the winter. The better bet would have been to cut the temperature down a few degrees while they were away. To help keep you warm around the house, wear a sweater or extra layer of clothing. At night, throw a blanket on the bed for added warmth. Also, invest in a set of flannel sheets for your bed.
