New book debunks myths of green living

VERY INTERESTING ->New book debunks myths of green living – USATODAY.com
Earth From Space
Even so, I'm living a greener lifestyle and doing my best to protect the environment . I read recently that Hawaii has totally banned using plastic bags. Some say that move was a bit extreme, but getting shoppers to use those canvas bags that stores promote with their logo is slowly catching on. Let's all do our part to save the planet with green living.

Happy Earth Day

It's the most beautiful day in Atlanta on Earth Day. I hope the same in your city or town. Let's all do our part to promote more eco-friendly living towards a cleaner environment. Take a walk in your neighborhood with the kids and do a trash pick up today. It's amazing how much litter gets tossed out especially at the front entrance in communities. Remember the three R's ->Reuse, Reduce & Recycle!

Eco-Friendly Idea

It's after 11pm on Sunday night and just had an eco-friendly idea to share. If you only have one produce item like an onion or bananas bunched together, skip placing them in those plastic bags in the produce section. Just place the item in the basket to reduce using so many of the bags that end up in landfills. It's more eco-friendly!

One more thing, there is a 'Penguin Cam' on the Discovery Channel website showing Penguins swimming underwater. The Penguin Cam will be LIVE 24 hours a day throughout March and April. You may already have discovered it from yesterday's post. I can't stop watching it :)

Eco-Friendly Tip

What did we ever do before the drive-through window opened up? We got out of our cars and went inside to order food and drink. It's quite convenient especially when it's raining, snowing or temps are cold. The last thing we want to do is get out the car. If the drive-through line is long, I will park and go inside. It saves on gas and the environment by not having the car idle in the long drive-through line. So eco-friendly!

Be Straw Free, says 9-year-old boy | PRI.ORG

A neat idea and positive for the environment. After reading and listening to this story, I started thinking about condiments like ketchup and mustard that are placed in your to-go bag. I will save them to use at home, but wonder how many simply get thrown away after eating the meal.

Eco-Friendly Tip

If you will be hosting a small dinner party this holiday season, try to cut down on using so many paper products. Instead, use real dinnerware, glasses, and silverware. I realize everyone wants cleanup to be snap after the party is over and paper products are an easy toss in the trash. But using the dishwasher is better and more energy-efficient when fully loaded.

The less paper products in the landfills is so much better. Let's all continue to do our part for the environment by becoming more Green!

Air Conditioning Break

The last few mornings in Atlanta have been so refreshingly cool and this weekend will be about the same. If the weather is cooling a bit in your area, give the air conditioning a break by opening the windows of your home or apartment to let in some fresh air. This will also help cut down the A/C bill for extra savings. If it's safe enough, keep the windows open at night.

Reduce, Reuse & Recycle

If you are only picking up one item from a store, skip having the item placed in a plastic bag. Just make sure to get the receipt before leaving the store. No need to add one more piece of plastic to the landfills that will take a long time to break down.

I'm living more eco-friendly by reducing, reusing & recycling. Hope you will too!
