It sure is good news that prices at the pump have gone down around many states including Georgia. Who would have ever thought we'd be jumping for joy at lower gas prices still in the $3 dollar range. It's cool as every dollar saved at the pump keeps a little more money in the wallet.

So here's my Frugal Tip of the Day ->If you are now shaving off $5-10 dollars that used to go into the gas tank when you filled up, start saving that extra money for summer vacation travels you will take by car. Plus, we all know gas prices are fickle and could begin to rise again. Be ready for it by saving those extra dollars while gas is lower at the pumps now.

TGIF and the weekend is just around the corner. This travel read is perfect timing especially geared for the solo traveler. As the summer season nears and folks start planning vacations, some people may not have a travel companion for a getaway. Don't let that stop you! Read these tips to help ease your reluctance to hit the road alone.

Of course, safety is paramount when traveling solo so make sure the car is serviced and tires inflated. Always keep a flashlight with fresh batteries in the glove box. The holiday season is fast approaching like Memorial Day and the 4th of July. Try a short distance trip that's just two hours away to get the feel of traveling solo. Let me add that you always want to make sure family and friends know your travel plans and how to reach you. Keep the cell phone with you and pack the charger in your luggage. Have fun!

Frugal Travel Tip

As you plan the family vacation or solo trip by car this summer, keep in mind how much money can be saved by packing your own munchies, water, and more instead of buying them on the road. Plan to invest in a cooler that will hold enough ice to keep items cool. Always check to make sure the ice hasn't melted in the cooler when you make stops. If needed, refill the cooler with ice and replenish the bottled waters from your supply so they can be cooling and ready to grab when needed. If you catch a sale on bottled water, buy extras to have ready to take along on the trip. The gas prices have gone back up, but the vacation travel season is still in full swing.
