Memorial Day Salute

American Flag
A heartfelt salute to all the servicemen, women and veterans on Memorial Day. From the wars long ago to present day, your heroism and sacrifices are appreciated more than you may ever know. Let's give thanks to all our troops for helping to make our country a safer place and to the military families.

Over on Rolling Stone, they are streaming the Neil Young and Crazy Horse 'Americana' album which is the band's first album in nine years. The music has a definite sound of 'Americana' and is a perfect pick on Memorial Day. Listen to the full album here.

One more thing, check out my latest post over on the website OliveCocoMag which is just in time for the Memorial Day celebrations ~Enjoy a healthy and delicious holiday!

Frugal shopping in this week's ads

There are some frugal buys in many of the stores Weekly Ads just in time for the Memorial Day holiday and summer vacation plans. Plus, the kid's heading to camp will need a few things to update their gear.

This week's Target ad is full of great buys from tees, tanks, Bermuda shorts, or tie-dye tees which are so colorful. Spending time at the lake or beach will be a favorite all summer long. Check out the specials on swimwear for not just the kid's, but adults too. Remember to check the "clearance" racks for deals.

How long has it been since you updated the pool floats and recliners for relaxing while floating in the water? It's been that long you say:-) Well, Target has a lot of the items you will need for the backyard pool or for taking  along to the beach rental. Oh, don't forget the teens like those "Super Soaker" water blasters. They are loads of fun and on sale too.

Check out this week's Walgreens ad for buy 1 get 1 50% off on sandals for the entire family and sunscreen. Make the picnic table pretty with colorful tablecloths, plates and more by stopping by the local dollar store for all those accessories to make the outings sparkle. Don't forget to stock up on bottled water for the cooler.

It's that time of the year where spending time outdoors is the place to be!

Table for one? Tips for traveling solo

READ BEFORE PACKING;-) ->Table for one? Tips for traveling solo  | ajc.com

TGIF and the weekend is just around the corner. This travel read is perfect timing especially geared for the solo traveler. As the summer season nears and folks start planning vacations, some people may not have a travel companion for a getaway. Don't let that stop you! Read these tips to help ease your reluctance to hit the road alone.

Of course, safety is paramount when traveling solo so make sure the car is serviced and tires inflated. Always keep a flashlight with fresh batteries in the glove box. The holiday season is fast approaching like Memorial Day and the 4th of July. Try a short distance trip that's just two hours away to get the feel of traveling solo. Let me add that you always want to make sure family and friends know your travel plans and how to reach you. Keep the cell phone with you and pack the charger in your luggage. Have fun!

Glorious Sunday

Hello Everyone, today is glorious indeed and gorgeous too. I have been busy with my Sunday usual which is watering all my indoor plants. I had to clip a long piece off one of my golden pothos plants. I was able to cut the piece into two so I will have a couple more plants around soon after they get roots. I saved a couple of jelly jars so they came in handy for the clippings and look pretty cute on the table and counter. One of my fave neighbors likes to grill out so I need to dial the digits and see what's cooking :-) Enjoy yummy eats and have a safe holiday weekend!

Fabulous Friday!

The day is shaping up to be just that...Fabulous! I say shaping up because we finally got some rain in Atlanta late yesterday and it was stormy. The sun has been peeking through the clouds and the temps are warming. I bet lots of people took today off from work to get a jump start on the long holiday weekend ahead. If you are one of them, enjoy all you have planned for the day. I am sure cookouts are part of the weekend as many prepare to host or attend a few.

I see the gas prices have come down a little just in time for those planning to hit the road for the Memorial Day holiday to visit family, friends, or beach getaway. If this will be a staycation holiday for you, make the most of it by finding free events to attend like festivals where you can pack a picnic basket, blanket, and cool beverage to enjoy the sights and sounds.

If you've been invited to a backyard cookout, ask the host what you can bring. Prepare your fave dish or stop by the store to pick something up. Here's a cool idea ->bring a 12-24 pack of bottled water to put in their cooler so everyone stays hydrated while outside in the sunny heat. I am sure whatever you decide to bring, it will be greatly appreciated.

Well, I'm ready to check some things off my to-do list and writing this blog post is one of them. Hey, have a Fab Friday!
