Give Me the Green Light

This is one of my favorite collaborations which is also very hip. John Legend and Andre 3000 from Outkast jam this track "Green Light." You can't help but get your groove on while this song is playing. I think the replay button is about to get clicked to hear this again ~I'm ready to go right now!

Midweek Music ~ Swing Out Sister

Just popped over to my blog for one last post. The page views today were plentiful ~thanks everybody for visiting. I hope the first day of August has been a good one. This '80s hit by Swing Out Sister titled "Breakout" was popular and radio stations kept it on rotation for awhile. Enjoy!

All Things New for August

Rainbow
As I type this post, the rap song by Bone Thugs-N- Harmony hums in my head. The title of the song is "1st of Tha Month" and I imagine the YouTube video is getting lots of hits. It has the hippest lyrics and beat!

It's back-to-school in the next few weeks for some kids and the 'staycations' that became popular are gearing up. There are plenty of ways to enjoy a summer vacation right in your city or town that is budget-friendly. With a little planning, a day trip to a state park or drive to a local lake is a fun adventure the whole family will enjoy. Fill up the car, pack a picnic lunch, and head somewhere for the 'staycation' of a lifetime.

Let me throw this tidbit on for size. If anyone has spent the summer job hunting with no success, get a boost in the new month by updating your resume and checking back with hiring managers. Go ahead and include any volunteer work you have been doing which adds a pop to your resume. It lets hiring officials know you have been active doing something. We all know the applicant pools are flooded so find ways to make yourself shine when your resume or online application reaches the company.

Have a Happy Hump Day on the 1st of the month!

Happy July 4th, Celebrate America

Happy 4th of July and celebration of America, land of the Red, White and Blue. What's on the BBQ grill for the big cookout? I can already imagine the aromas from the grills floating through the air as neighbors enjoy good eats and fun.

It's a great day that fell on Hump Day this year. I hope everyone will get the chance to watch a fireworks display somewhere which tops off the 4th with a bang. Remember to buckle your seat belt and don't drink & drive. Have a fun 4th of July!

TAKE A LOOK ->Gallery | Private Quarters: A retreat by the river | ajchomefinder.com
Happy Wednesday! I just love these "Private Quarters" features in the Homefinder section on the AJC. The homeowner of this lovely condo has some really nice touches all through the house. Her dog is adorable.

Hump Day in Hotlanta

Happy Hump Day and the temps hit 90 in "Hotlanta" ~Whew! I had a hair appointment earlier this morning at the Cosmetology School and was hoping the heat would not sweat my new hairdo;-) I try to save gas by not running the car A/C, but had to crank it up. Actually, I read that driving on the expressway with the windows down or sunroof open burns more gas. I imagine street driving is OK.

As we put the wind down on the day of projects and tasks, this performance by indie singer Esperanza Spalding sure is nice. Let's ease the stresses with her smooth and mellow voice. The song is titled "Smile Like That" from her latest album Radio Music Society. The video is brought to us by NPR.

Exercise Helps Fight Fatigue

It's Hump Day Wednesday, isn't it wonderful. How's the week going so far? The to-do list is manageable today.

I mentioned before that lots of new music comes out on Tuesdays and there are some goodies this week. For starters, Lenny Kravitz has a new album titled "Mama Said (21st Anniversary Deluxe Edition)." Plus, Eric Benet's "The One" and country superstar Alan Jackson released "Thirty Miles West." Listen to these full albums free and many more on AOL Music.

All that music is great streaming on the laptop and perfect way to help fight fatigue that starts to creep in during the day. Try to sneak in some exercises or take a yoga break in the day. Lift the dumbbells when an upbeat song comes on. Do stretching to release any muscle tension to a cool beat. If writer's block has set in, a mellow song with some yoga relaxation poses may get you back on track and clear your mind. Remember to drink plenty of water to help combat that sluggish feeling.

Pics ~ Dave Matthews Band in Atlanta

SEE PICS HERE ->Gallery | Dave Matthews Band | accessatlanta.com
Ain't we humpin' now, Happy Hump Day! Thought you might like to see some great pics from the Dave Matthews Band concert last night in Atlanta. One of my favorites is the band member who plays the tiniest violin, but it sure belts out dynamic sounds.

2012 Music Midtown lineup in Atlanta

SEE THE LINEUP ->Gallery | 2012 Music Midtown lineup | accessatlanta.com

The lineup looks great for Music Midtown in September which is the fall season and temps should be really pleasant for an outdoor concert in Piedmont Park. Rappers Ludacris and T.I. are in the lineup and fan favorites in Atlanta.

One other performer in the lineup is Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. I remember listening to her rockin' music back in the 80's while in college. The band's hit "I Love Rock N' Roll" blasted in the cars on campus. Why don't we play that music video for Hump Day Wednesday ~put another dime in the jukebox baby!

April is Poetry Month

Good morning sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. The songbirds are still chirping beautifully as they flutter to the bird feeder to munch on the black sunflower seeds. I watch them from the window delighted by their return each day. I step out to the patio with my first cup of coffee and feel a breeze as the chenille throw warms me. I begin to work up the to-do list in my mind with no pad to take notes. Will I remember it...I think so!

Hello everybody, I had made a point to write some poetic words since April is Poetry Month. I don't profess to be a poetry writer, but every now and then my thoughts simply flow with no rhyming to them like most poetry is written. I hope to add one more before the end of poetry month draws near.

Wednesday Evening Post

Hi everybody, just popping back over on the blog for a few minutes. I hope your day was fine on Hump Day. I'm watching an episode of the hit sitcom "Seinfeld" that still airs on Atlanta TV channels. I have seen them all;-) The week is moving along at a steady clip. Keep moving forward!

Happy Hump Day

EmoticonYes indeed and it's glorious with plenty of sunshine to go around. I'm sharing some with everyone all around the world. I hope the week is going well and the to-do list has lots of check marks signifying 'done'.

Listen to the new song by Swedish duo jj called Beautiful Life. It's off the hip music website HYPETRAK.  I like it and the smooth sound sure matches this beautiful day. Grab the sunglasses, you will need them once the sunshine I sent arrives in the skies. Hold on, it's coming!

Spring Songbirds

Pam’s Clipart Images
It's Hump Day, how are we doing so far into the week? Things are kicking in gear even more on my end and I'm keeping pace. The songbirds were singing sweetly this morning which went well with coffee and work on the laptop. Even now as lunchtime draws near, they are still singing. It's springtime music to the ears and day.

Upbeat Hump Day

Music by Singersroom.com | More on Toni Braxton
WOW, this is a super song by Toni Braxton with a hip upbeat tempo. The title of the song is "I Heart You." I know it's only Wednesday, but this jam will have you wanting to hit the dance floor long before the weekend. I guess the living room or kitchen will do;-) Big shout out of thanks to the folks over at Singersroom for allowing bloggers to share their music, appreciate it!

Laugh & Get Rich Day

Hello everyone, I sure hope this has been a great day for you. I really kicked Hump Day up and gave the to-do list the once over then got busy on some items that kept getting further down the list. You know me by now, I like to see lots of 'done' check marks.

Smiley
I read that it's "Laugh and Get Rich Day." Who comes up with these cool-named days I wonder. For today, there have been Laughs, but the Get Rich part...not so much, but it's coming!

Jam on Hump Day

Hey Everybody, how was your day? What a difference a few days make in the way of temperatures in Atlanta. Today was rainy and cold, I could have taken along some gloves. The sun did peek out, but not long enough to grab the sunglasses. I came across this performance by Mary J. Blige which I really dig along with that sharp hat she's wearing. Let's top off  Hump Day with this Jam!

Windy Wednesday

The title of this post is spot on in describing the weather in Atlanta. I keep seeing dried leaves blowing across the yard and on to the patio. We got some much-needed rain late into the evening yesterday which will help the lake levels in Georgia. Today is probably the last commute into work for lots of  people until next Monday. I remember the office would start to thin out early on the day before Thanksgiving. The student assistants who weren't going home for the holiday didn't mind working all day especially since their time sheets would be short with hours from the holiday break. I remember those days fondly in college.

As I was getting the coffee maker ready to brew, I started seeing my favorite cardinal birds perched on the fence. There were both red & brown ones and I noticed the wind blowing against their coat. I think they had been watching me while adding seeds to the bird feeder and tossing some out in the yard. Just like I have my eye out for them...they have theirs out for me.

The Atlanta traffic starts to thicken after lunch with travelers heading out-of-town and those arriving to spend the holiday in our fine city. Welcome and enjoy your visit!

Hump Day Tidbits

Good afternoon, I sure hope everyone is having a happy hump day. The midweek point is a good day to kick the to-do list up a notch and get deep into any BIG projects. I bet many of us are doing just that and making great headway. Keep it up!

Well, all the fall leaves on the front yard tree have fallen and the tree is bare. I enjoyed looking at the yellow leaves and knew the day was coming when they would all be gone. I can still admire the beauty of fall while out & about as there might be trees with plenty of colorful leaves left.

The weather in Atlanta has been quite a mix with rain & peeks of sunshine today. Unfortunately, the sun was not shining when I came out of my hair appointment this afternoon. The student at the Cosmetology School did a wonderful job with my hair and there were swirls of curls. The student will graduate in December and she is developing a portfolio of hair styles so she took a picture of me, I was flattered. When I left, it was sprinkling a bit so she gave me a plastic cap to put over my head to dash to my car. Of course, the preferred exit for anyone who just had their hair done would have been wearing sunglasses and looking glam, right :-) I can't let this tidbit go without telling the price of my hairdo today...$8, Priceless!
